The Patriot, the campus newspaper for University of the Cumberlands, brought home 14 awards from the Kentucky Press Association's annual award banquet Friday, Jan. 20.

Men's Tennis Begins Play in ITA Regionals
UC Men's Tennis team began play on Thursday in Georgetown, Kentucky as they compete in the 2016 ITA Regional Tournament. The Patriots' Tarnishq Mahendru received a #9 seed in the singles' tournament while Aatu Merenheimo (SO/Helsinki, Finland) and Daniel Butcher (JR/Williamsburg, KY) earned the #3 seed in the doubles' competition.

Patriots Dominate the Night Against Knights 52-7
The Patriot football team hosted the Knights of Kentucky Christian University on Saturday and did not disappoint in front of the home crowd. Scoring in all facets of the game, UC dominated the line of scrimmage all night as they defeated the Knights 52-7 to move to 3-4 on the season (2-1 MSC East).

A total of 411 undergraduate and graduate students in three commencement ceremonies Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 were given their diplomas. The 2015-16 academic year produced 642 Campbellsville University graduates.

Patriot Tennis Victorious over Campbellsville on Senior Day
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Tennis teams were in action on Saturday as they hosted the Tigers of Campbellsville University (CU) in both the regular season finale as well as Senior Day for the Patriots. UC would be looking to send off their five seniors in grand fashion with big wins over the Tigers in Mid-South Conference (MSC) play. The Patriots would sweep Campbellsville as the ladies would win 7-2, improving their season record to 9-9 (4-3 MSC) while the men won 5-3, improving their record to 11-6 (4-2 MSC).

Patriot Archery Racks Up Honors at USCA Indoor Region Tournament
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Archery Team had a successful conclusion to their indoor season over the weekend shooting in the USCA Indoor Regional/National Tournament in Ashland, Kentucky. Along with UC, there were 11 other schools represented; Kentucky Christian University, Campbellsville University, Liberty University, Hocking College, Eastern Kentucky University, California University of Pennsylvania, Union College, Madisonville Community College, Pennsylvania State University, Midway University, and Ashland University.

Patriot Tennis Splits Matches on Weekend
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Tennis team was in action on Saturday and Sunday this weekend as they traveled both days. On Saturday, they traveled to take on the Bulldogs of Cumberland University (CU), but were defeated by a score of 3-5. UC would get back into the win column on Sunday as they earned a win on the road over Centre College (CC) by a score of 9-0. The split pushes the Patriots' record to 5-3 overall on the season.

Patriot Basketball Awarded with Conference Academic Honors
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) basketball teams are in the midst of final preparations as they will take to the floor this week in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Tournament in Frankfort, Kentucky. As they look to work hard on the floor in hopes to make big runs in the tournament, many of the Patriots are being rewarded for their dedication to work in the classroom as conference officials announced their Academic All-Conference selections on Wednesday.

Men's Tennis Earns Big Victory as Women Fall at Carson-Newman
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Tennis teams were in action this weekend as they traveled Friday to Jefferson City, Tennessee to take on the Eagles of Carson-Newman College (CN). The men were able to pull out a close match as they defeated CN 5-4 while the women lost 2-7. The Patriot men move to 4-1 on the season while the women are now 0-4 on the season.

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men and Women's Tennis teams hosted Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) on Friday. The UC Patriots fought hard and were able to come out with one win. The men won 6-3 moving their overall record to 2-0. The women could not find the momentum to come away with a victory as they lost 6-3, giving them an overall record of 0-3.

UC Tennis Opens Spring with Win over Bellarmine
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men's Tennis team opened the spring season on the road on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky as they took on the Knights of Bellarmine University (BU). The Patriots would be too much for the Knights as they would win the match 7-2. The win moves UC to 1-0 on the season.

Cross Country Patriots Compete in MSC Championships
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cross Country team took to the course on Saturday, November 7th after a week off to compete in their biggest event of the season, the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championships. The Patriots were hoping the week off would help them as they had one last attempt to qualify for nationals. UC wouldn't qualify their teams to the NAIA National Championships, but two individuals will travel to compete in the race.

Patriot XC Teams Compete in Sandshark Invite
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Cross Country teams were back on the course on Saturday, October 24th after a week off to compete in the Sandshark Invite in Bluffton, South Carolina. Last season, the Patriots dominated in this event as several members of the team were able to record their personal bests on a relatively flat course. With the teams looking to continue to impress, and a stacked NAIA field, UC hoped to have similar results this year.

Patriot Runners Earn MSC All-Conference Honors
The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriots' Cross Country teams competed this past weekend at the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championship meet in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The men's team would earn a 3rd place finish overall with a score of 91 points while the women would finish 4th with a score of 128 points. Both the men and women's teams had great performances and would have individuals earn MSC All-Conference honors.
